Abstract

PURPOSE:To inspect the states of the surfaces of the right and left sides, the front and rear sides and the upper side of a material, by providing two cameras at the upper part of a conveyer, scanning the material in the direction inclined by 45 deg. with respect to the advancing direction of the material, and arranging the scanning lines in the directions, which are intersected at a right angle. CONSTITUTION:When a material 5, which is conveyed with a conveyer 1, reaches a position, where a scanning line 30A of a sensor camera 3A is crossed, the material is lighted with a lighting device 4. The images of a slanted left rear side surface 5a, a plane 5e and a slanted right front side surface 5b of the material 5 are picked up with mirrors 2a-2d for every one scanning of A1-C2 of a linear image sensor 31A. The scanning is repeated by scanning start pulses (not shown), which are outputted every time the conveyer 1 advances by a specified unit length. The same operation is performed at a position, where a scanning line 30B of a sensor camera 3B is crossed. The images of the surfaces at the first inspecting position, which are picked up in this way, are combined, and the dimensions of the shape of the material 5 are computed by analyzing the images.
