Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain excellent lubricity under various use conditions by incorporating a specific perfluoroamine perfluoroalkylcarboxylate into the titled medium. CONSTITUTION:The perfluoroamine perfluoroalkylcarboxylate expressed by formula I is used as a lubricating agent for the magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer on a base. In formula, (n) denotes integer in the range of 1-2; at least one kind among R1, R2, R3 denote a fluorinated alkyl group Rf denotes a perfluoroalkyl group of >=3C, respectively. The perfluoroamine perfluoroalkylcarboxylate expressed by formula I is easily synthesized by perfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid and perfluoroamine. The lubricity is thereby maintained over a long period of time under the various use conditions.
