Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer, having excellent heat and water resistance, electrical insulating, adhesive properties, etc., and useful as insulating materials, etc., by reacting a specific aromatic polyether, halogenated polyether and organosilicon compound with a compound capable of generating radical species. CONSTITUTION:(A) Aromatic polyether units expressed by formula I (Ar' is bifunctional aromatic compound residue) in an amount of 0-99.9wt.% are reacted with (B) 0.1-100wt.% halogenated polyether expressed by formula II (Ar is tri- - hexafunctional aromatic compound residue; X is halogen; n is 1-4) and (C) an organosilicon compound expressed by formula III (R<1>-R<3> are hydrolyzable group, hydroxyl group, alkyl or aryl) in the presence of a compound capable of generating radical species to afford the aimed silylated polyether, consisting of 0.1-20wt.% structural units expressed by formula IV (m is 0-3; n+m is 1-4), 0-99.9wt.% component (A) and 0-99.9wt.% component (B) and having 1,500-10,000 number-average molecular weight expressed in terms of polystyrene.
