Abstract

PURPOSE:To remarkably reduce flow-out quantity of slag into a ladle and to improve yield of an alloy by adding CaO in a furnace at the end period of blowing at the time of refining molten iron in the converter and adjusting the slag composition at the steel tapping to the specific condition. CONSTITUTION:At the time of refining molten iron with slag, in which CaO-FeO- SiO2-MnO-MgO contains as main composition, the CaO, etc., is added at the end period of blowing to increase CaO/SiO2 ratio in the slag, and also T.Fe is diluted. Then, in case MgO in the slag in the furnace contains <=10%, T.Fe and the CaO/SiO2 ratio are adjusted so as to come to the composition range of the inequality I at the time of CaO/SiO2<=5 and the inequality II at the time of CaO/SiO2>5. By this method, the slag is solidified as bedrock and the converter slag can do so as not to flow-out in the ladle at the steel tapping.
