Abstract
PURPOSE:To attain the drastic improvement of the iron loss at low cost by mechanically grinding the surface on the ferrite of a directional electro-magnetic steel strip into the prescribed roughness by free abrasive grains. CONSTITUTION:The directional electro-magnetic steel strip obtd. by subjecting a silicon steel hot rolled plate to cold rolling, etc., is applied to finish annealing. The surface on the ferrite of the directional electro-magnetic steel strip subjected to said finish annealing is mechanically ground by the free abrasive grains and is smoothed into the surface roughness of <=0.3mum average roughness of the center line (Ra). The drastical improvement of the iron loss can be attained at low cost, by the above-mentioned method.
