Abstract

PURPOSE:To discharge sheets remaining in a machine to the outside of the device without troubling an operator by discharging paper remaining in the device to the outside of said device based on paper position information stored in the storage means just after a power source in the device is applied. CONSTITUTION:Paper position monitoring means 13-15 monitoring the position of paper on a conveyance path, and two electrically rewritable nonvolatile storage means 26 and 35, which store information on the position of paper during conveying, are provided on the inside of the device. Just after the power source is applied, the paper remaining in the machine are discharged to the outside of the machine based on the paper position information stored in the storage means 26 and 35. Thus paper remaining in the machine is discharged to the outside of the machine without troubling an operator just after the power source is applied even if said paper is left in the device. At that time, the sheet number of said paper can be easily detected, and no information is missing due to the lack of paper.
