Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform replacement of acid liquid in a pickling tan with a simple equipment by providing a changeover device having a specified structure to the midway part of a pipeline which joins a pickling tank for steel strip, etc., to a storage tank for different kind of acid liquid. CONSTITUTION:In a continuous pickling equipment for pickling strips consisting of different kind of steel with different acid liquids A, B to remove scales on the surfaces, a plural pickling tanks 1a-1c are connected with acid liquid storage tank 2a-2c by pipelines 3a-3c via changeover devices 4a-4c. The acid liquid A in the pickling tank is exchanged to acid liquid B according to the kind of steel strip to be pickled. In the case of returning acid liquid A in the pickling tank to the storage tank A, the valves 24, 25 of the changeover device are closed and the acid liquid is returned to the storage tank A via a valve 21, an acidproof pump 26, a check valve 23 and a valve 22. In the case of feeding acid liquid B to the pickling tank, the valves 21, 22 are closed and it is fed to the pickling tank via the valve 25, the acidproof pump 26, the check valve 23 and the valve 24. Acid liquid flows to the same direction through the acidproof pump 26 even in each case and therefore replacement of acid liquid is finished by one set of acidproof pump and the pipelines and installation cost is halved and also the changeover of acid liquid is simple and productivity of pickling operation is enhanced.
