Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain storage with less memory capacity without deteriorating the quality of pattern data by compressing data for each block and storing the data as a virtual data of one page into a master memory when the compressed data reaches a prescribed scanning line number. CONSTITUTION:A scanner 2 reads a drawing 1 while scanning it. In inputting drawing data from the scanner 2, the data is subjected to block processing in a way that it is split in plural numbers in a direction at a right angle to the scanning direction. Then each block is stored in a separate address of a memory 3. The data are compressed simultaneously by data compressors 4 provided for each block. When the compressed data reach a prescribed scanning line number, the result is stored in a main memory 5 as a virtual one-page data. That is, a host processing unit manages one input drawing 1 as plural pages of data split in a grating. Thus, the pattern data is stored with less memory capacity without deteriorating the quality of the data.
