Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain easily a hydrophilic porous fluorocarbon resin without causing the decomposition and deterioration of the resin, by infiltrating a hydrophilic polymer into the pores of a porous fluorocarbon resin and fixing the hydrophilic polymer by crosslinking with irradiation of ultraviolet rays. CONSTITUTION:A hydrophilic polymer is infiltrated into the pores of porous fluorocarbon resin and the hydrophilic polymer is fixed in the pores by crosslinking with irradiation of ultraviolet rays. Although polytetrafluoroethylene is usually used as said porous resin, other fluorocarbon resins can be used. As said hydrophilic polymer, polyvinyl alcohol, sodium polyacrylate, a quat. ammonium salt of polyvinylpyridine, a quat. ammonium salt of polyvinylpyrrolidone or sodium polystyrenesulfonate is desirable because of its easiness of handling.
