Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to form a ceramic-based superconductive wire of poor machinability efficiently by filling a metallic block having a plurality of hollow ducts with powder of superconductive material or the raw material itself, press-machining them, and performing sintering treatment. CONSTITUTION:Hollow ducts 1 are filled with superconductive material powder or the raw materials itself such as an intermetallic compounds or their raw materials, Nb3Sn, Nb3Ge, etc., or oxides of LiBiO4, YSr2Cu3O1, etc., or their raw materials by vibration- or press-pressure, etc., as dense as possible, deaerated, and openings are sealed. The filled block obtained is then subjected to extrusion or forging process as a preliminary treatment and roll machined with pressure followed by sintering treatment to cause stick-solidification and reaction of the powder filled in the metallic block. This makes it possible to make even the ceramic-based superconductor of poor machinability efficiently into the wire form.
