Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the safety of a nuclear reactor by mounting a foreign matter capturing member on, a coolant flow passage part. CONSTITUTION:An orifice 31 for throttling flow in order to optimize the flow rate of the coolant to a fuel assembly 30 is mounted on the coolant inlet 29 of a peripheral part fuel supporting metallic fitting 28. A wire net 32 as the foreign matter capturing member is installed to this orifice 31. The foreign matter such as metallic pieces in the coolant is captured by the net 32 even if such foreign matter flows into the orifice. As a result, the inflow of the foreign matter into a channel box where a fuel rod exists during the reactor operation is obviated and the failure by the fretting of the fuel rod is prevented. The safety of the reactor is thus assured.
