CONSTITUTION:A starchy raw material is blended with dried or thermally cooked fish and shellfish, pressurized, heated, extruded and expanded by using an extruder having two or more screws. Grain granules such as rice, wheat, barley, rye, foxtail millet or barnyard grass, grain flour such as rice flour, wheat flour, barley flour or rye and various starch such as wheat starch, potato starch, corn starch or sugar cane starch may be cited as the starchy raw material used. The fish and shellfish has preferably <=20wt.% water content and in the case of >=20wt.% water content, shelf stability is decreased, handleability and control of raw material are complicated.
