Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain printed matter with a safe protective membrane having a uniform thickness through efficient operation by providing a transferable protective membrane forming material after a sequence of ink-applied surfaces on ink sheet. CONSTITUTION:A protective membrane forming material applied after each one of surfaces coated using inks 1a, 1b, 1c such as yellow, magenta and cyan, on base film 3 of ink sheet 2, is transferable and becomes transparent at least after transfer. When characters and graphics are printed, a printed image is formed by transferring each color ink 1a, 1b, 1c on printed matter using a thermal printer on conventional procedures for printing of characters and graphics. Subsequent to this, a protective membrane forming material 4 is thermally transferred to the surface of a printed image to form a protective membrane. The formation of a protective membrane is achieved by a device such as used for character and graphic printing operation. Therefore, the formation of the protective membrane is performed efficiently and automatically with safety and the membrane thickness becomes uniform.
