Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a bearing mechanism not using any lubricant by supporting the rotary element with a repulsive force due to Meisner effect applied to a superconductor and magnet. CONSTITUTION:A disc-shaped permanent magnet 2 is inserted in a recess of a superconductive bearing 1, and the magnet 2 is fixed to a rotary shaft 3 to constitute a bearing mechanism. The magnet 2 is magnetized in the thickness direction, and the line of magnetic force 4 emitted from the N pole at the oversurface can not intrude into the superconductive bearing 1 because of Meisner effect, to terminate at the S pole on the undersurface upon passing between the magnet 2 and bearing 1. The load on the rotary shaft 3 in the vertical direction is borne by the line of magnetic force 4 with no contact with the bearing 1, herein no lubricant is required, so that it can be used even in vacuum space.
