CONSTITUTION:The means 30 is provided which measures the pulse width of the line clock signal S4. The pulse width of the line clock signal is in inverse proportion to a main scanning speed, so the main scanning speed is found from the pulse width. A signal indicating the main scanning speed which is thus found is fed back to, for example, an optical deflector driving control means 32 to control the main scanning speed constant. Consequently, an image which has an improper longitudinal-lateral ratio is prevented from being recorded.
