PURPOSE:To print an image in the shortest time corresponding to respective modes by specifying the relation among the set temperature, heating ability, and sheet conveying ability of a fixation part. CONSTITUTION:The time required for a rise from stand-by set temperature T2 to intermediate set temp. T3 is t23, the time required for a rise from intermediate set temperature T3 to the fixation temperature T1 is t31, and the time required for a rise from stand-by set temperature T2 to the fixation temperature T1 is t21. Here, the time required to send transfer paper from a paper feed part to the fixation part through a 1st conveyance path, a transfer part, and a 2nd conveyance path is set equal to or a little bit longer than the required time t21 in automatic paper feed mode. Further, the time required to send a manually inserted sheet from a manual insertion slot to the fixation part through the remaining part of the 1st conveyance path, the transfer part, and the 2nd conveyance path is set equal to or a little bit longer than the required time t31 in manual insertion mode. Consequently, fixation and printing are carried out in the shortest time in both automatic paper feed mode and manual insertion mode.
