Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve adhesiveness of a watertight compound to a PVC insulator and to improve the ease of work of stripping the wire end by constituting the composition of the watertight compound with PVC, ethylene-PVC copolymer or ethylene vinyl acetate-PVC copolymer as a main ingredient and adding at least certain amount of epoxy silane. CONSTITUTION:A watertight compound is made of 100 weight parts of main ingredient of PVC, ethylene-PVC copolymer or ethylene vinyl acetate-PVC copolymer added with 0.5 weight parts or more of epoxy silane. This improves adhesiveness between the compound and a conductor, watertightness, and adhesiveness between the compound and an insulator. Also, since the adhesiveness between the compound and the insulator is greater that between the compound and the conductor, the compound does not remain on the conductor at the time of stripping the conductor end. That is, a cable of excellent property of ease of the cable end stripping is obtained.
