A picture collation section 2b collates the picture information extracted from the scanner 1 and the picture information of a background picture storage section 2a in reading the original. An original/ background identification section 2c extracts the picture information of an original based on the result of collation of picture information by the background picture storage section 2a and identifies the original size and picture read direction. A filing data edit section 2d generates an information file recorded on an optical disk device 3.
