Abstract

PURPOSE:To completely oxidize unburnt components to obtain a clean exhaust gas and to improve the radiation efficiency by disposing an auxiliary catalyst layer in opposition to a main catalyst layer on the downstream side of the main catalyst layer. CONSTITUTION:A mixed gas emitted from an evaporation chamber 4 is supplied with a sufficient amount of air through a secondary air port 5, and rises up in the form of a mixed gas of excess air. Since a main catalyst layer 6 for an oxidizing reaction is provided above the secondary air port 5, the mixed gas flows to the downstream side (inner surface) via communication holes 6a while producing a catalytic combustion mainly on the upstream side (outer surface). The combustion exhaust gas makes contact with an auxiliary catalyst layer 9 which is located further inside from the main catalyst layer 6. When an unburnt components coexist, the combustion exhaust gas is completely oxidized and cleaned, and thereafter the exhaust gas is discharged through a discharge port 8 provided at the upper part. Accordingly, unburnt components produced by incomplete combustion is prevented from being discharged as they are. Further, since the auxiliary catalyst layer 9 is disposed in opposition to the downstream side of th main catalyst layer 6, radiation heat from the auxiliary catalyst layer 9 is discharged to the outer circumstance via communication holes 6a of the main catalyst layer 9.
