PURPOSE:To decrease the number of fields constituting one frame without causing the reduction in the dynamic resolution by providing a temporary memory section comprising vertical CCD registers transferring signal charges independently mutually in contact with a photosensing region. CONSTITUTION:Photodiodes P1-Pi and 1st vertical CCD registers 20-1-20-N constitute a photosensing region 26 aud the temporary memory region 27 comprising 2nd vertical CCD registers 15-A1-15-B4 is provided in contact with the photosensing area 26. In optional one field period, the signal charges of the photodiodes P1-Pi are summed and plural number of times of transfer from the 1st vertical CCD registers 20-1-20-N to the 2nd vertical CCD registers 15-A1-15-B4 are applied to read the signal charge packet stored in the temporary memory area 27 is read through a horizontal CCD register 21.
