PURPOSE:To shorten time necessary for communication by reducing image information corresponding to a retrieving signal from a remote terminal part and transmitting it from a central part to the remote terminal part. CONSTITUTION:A remote terminal part 2 sends a reducing-reading signal to reducing-read the designated image information to a central part 1. At the central part 1 to receive this, the designated image information is read out of an optical disk 15a, decode at a code decoding circuit 14a and then, reduced at an enlargingreducing circuit 16a. Further, the reduced image information is coded by the code decoding circuit 14a. The central part sends the coded and reduced image information to the remote terminal part 2. At the remote terminal part, after the sent image information is decoded at a code decoding circuit 14b, they are properly enlarged by a enlarging/reducing circuit 16b and displayed on a CRT 13b under the control of a display control circuit 12b.
