Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain the reading of the identification of an optical disk and necessary data at one-time access by permitting respective data reading units to record the identification codes of the optical disk in which they themselves are recorded. CONSTITUTION:Data are divided into blocks being the reading units in respective data banks 5, 7 and 9. Namely, the identification codes of this CD (compact disk)-ROM and a manufacture date are recorded in a directory area 17a. The addresses of respective data in a drawn data area 17c which has sequentially been arranged and an offset value are recorded in an address area 17b. When one block is read into the recording area of a reader, etc., objective data can be selected by the address and the off set value. Since the identification codes of the CD-ROM are recorded in the leading area of the block being the reading unit of data, it can be identified whether the CD is the CD-ROM for a map or for other data by one time-reading.
