Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a desiccant wherein separation of liquid phase and fluidization due to deliquescence and leak from a moisture-permeable sheet are not wholly caused and hygroscopic capacity in the atmospher of low humidity is large by mixing deliquescent salts with powder of sepiolite disintegrated in a fibrous shape. CONSTITUTION:Rough stone of sepiolite is disintegrated with a hammer mill or the like in such a method that fiber is split and powder of sepiolite having a fibrous shape is obtained. A desiccant is produced by mixing deliquescent salts such as calcium chloride with it. When the desiccant obtained such a way is made to a paste-shape by absorbing deliquescent liquid, it shows remarkably viscous properties derived from a fibrous style and is made to a solidified state by its rheological characteristics when it is allowed to stand. Therefore the need for using an expensive moisture-permeable water barrier sheet is eliminated and the desiccant is laminated with an inexpensive moisture-permeable sheet or may be simply packaged with the moisture-permeable sheet.
