NEW MATERIAL:An N-acylprolylpyrrolidine derivative shown by formula I (R<1> and R<2> are H, halogen, lower alkoxy, lower alkyl, lower alkylthio or R<1> and R<2> are bonded to form benzene ring or dioxo ring; X is ethylene or carbonyl; n is 0-3 integer). USE:A prolyl endopeptidase inhibitor useful as a drug for alleviating amnesia. PREPARATION:Compounds shown by formula II - formula IV (R<3> is OH, lower alkoxy, halogen or O; m is 2 when R<3> is O and m is 1 when R<3> is not O; R<4> is H or protecting group; R<5> is OH or lower alkoxy) to give a compound shown by formula I.
