Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a surface layer having a superior adhesion to gamma-alumina by evaporating aluminum as a raw material onto a flat sheet of a raw material made of a ferrite type stainless steel alloy containing aluminum before it is formed into a shape of a catalyst carrier. CONSTITUTION:Pure Al is evaporated on to a raw material 10 which is a cold rolled ferrite type stainless steel alloy containing aluminum. The thickness of evaporated film is controlled to be 200-3,000Angstrom and preferably 800Angstrom . After the raw material 10 is formed into a corrugated sheet 5 and a flat sheet 6, the corrugated sheet 5 and the flat sheet 6 are put one over the other and coiled in multilayer. A metallic catalyst carrier is formed by brazing or welding the corrugate sheet 5 and the flat sheet 6 each other. By the aforementioned method, a simplification of process is attained.
