Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently restore the face, by utilizing the techniques of computer graphics, an expert system or the like. CONSTITUTION:A skull surface shape measuring part 1 measures the three- dimensional surface shape of the skull and a bodily characteristic data memory part 2 stores the data relating to the bodily characteristics of a human body. A stastical data memory part 3 stores the flesh thickness data of the face of the human body stastically taken in a medicolegal field and a face three- dimensional shape operating part 4 calculates the three-dimensional shape data of the face from the data stored in the memory parts 2, 3 on the basis of the three-dimensional data obtained by the measuring part 3 to restore the face based on said data. In this case, by utilizing artificial intelligence such as an expert system, the more real restoration of the face becomes possible. A face image forming part 5 forms a face image by performing surface shading employing computer graphics technique. The obtained face image is displayed on a face image display part 6.
