Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head having excellent wear resistance by butting two block-shaped magnetic core half bodies against each other via a gap material in such a manner that magnetic metallic films face each other and joining the core half bodies integrally to form a head core block, then cutting out the block to prescribed head chips. CONSTITUTION:Grooves 40 are formed in parallel with a tape-sliding surface 39 to a magnetic ferrite material 31a having a rectangular block shape. A high-hardness nonmagnetic film 34 consisting of Al2O3 is then formed in the bottom of the grooves 40 from the butt part forming surface 38 side of the magnetic material 31a. Grooves 41 having a slope theta with the forming surface 38 are formed deeper than the grooves 40 on the sliding surface 39. The magnetic metallic film 32 and the nonmagnetic film 35 are then formed in the grooves 41 and molding glass 37 is packed in the grooves 40, 41. The forming surface 38 is polished until the film 34 is exposed by which the magnetic core half body 31 is obtd. A winding groove 36 is formed on the butt surface 31b in parallel with the sliding surface 39 by which the other magnetic core half body 31' is obtd. The block 42 obtd. by joining the two half bodies 31, 31' integrally by a gap material consisting of SiO2, etc., is cut at (a)-(b), (c)-(d), etc., to obtain bodies 30.
