Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture a seam-welded tube for heat treatment excellent in workability, by forming a steel strip with a specific composition into a tubular state, subjecting the edge part to high-frequency welding to form a blank tube, and then subjecting the blank tube to heating, to the application of strain, and to annealing under respectively specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip consisting of, by weight, 0.10-0.50% C, <=0.50% Si, 0.20-1.20% Mn, 0.005-0.060% Al, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is formed into a tubular state and the edge part is subjected to high-frequency welding, by which a blank tube is formed. After welding, this blank tube is heated up to two-phase region (ferrite + austenite) (720-820 deg.C) and subjected, while maintained at the above temp., to sizing treatment at 4-20% quantity of working to undergo the application of strain. Subsequently, annealing is applied at about 500-700 deg.C in the recrystallization temp. region for about 5-30min so as to form the whole structure of the tube into ferritic grains of a uniform size. By this method, the seam-welded tube suitable for automobile hollow stabilizer, etc., can be obtained.
