Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a driving device when a large external force is applied on it, in the device wherein the rotation of a motor is taken out, via a transmission mechanism, from the output shaft to which the base end of a side windshield viper arm is connected, by providing clutch to the transmission mechanism. CONSTITUTION:In a vehicle door 10 in which a windshield 28 is arranged so as to be capable of being raised or lowered along a guide frame 30, a driving device 36 is fixedly arranged, inside the space of the body part 12 (not shown) of the door 10, on the front side of the guide frame 30. And the output shaft 48 projected from the upper part of the housing 38 of the driving device 36 is connected with the base end of a wiper arm 52 on the end of which a wiper blade is provided. The driving device 36 is so constituted that the torque of a motor is converted into a vertical motion via a transmission mechanism comprising gear wheels 74, 78 and then transmitted to the output shaft 48, and that, when a large external force is applied on it, the gear wheel 74 moves in the axial direction against a compression coil spring 98 constituting a part of a clutch so as to be disconnectedly separated from the gear wheel 78.
