Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce crack less bar-shaped composite material with good productivity by supplying a raw material composed of whisker and metallic powder into a container equipment for extrusion, pressurizing, compacting, heating and extruding it through a die. CONSTITUTION:A die 4 is sealed by a ram 11 and mixed powder material 17 composed of light metal such as Al alloy and whisker such as SiC is supplied by the advance and retreat of a pressurizing stem 15 into a chamber 2 of a container equipment 1. In the chamber 2, the material 17 is compacted by the pressurizing stem 15 at 1,000-3,000kgf/cm<2> in the shape of a billet and heated by a heater 3 uniformly at 500-600 deg.C.
