Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily array optical fibers with high accuracy by adopting the constitution in which the optical fibers drawn out of the plural guide holes of blocks are held on the plural V-grooves of a positioning jig controlled in spacing and parallelism to high accuracy. CONSTITUTION:Grooves 3a, 4a which constitute guide holes 3, 4 are formed on the respective mating faces of the upper and lower blocks 2a, 2b of the block 2 by laser beam processing and the blocks are superposed and adhered to and on each other. The optical fibers are inserted into the holes 4, 3. The fibers 1a are drawn out of the holes 3 and are fitted into the positioning V- grooves 15a of the adjusting jig 15 worked exactly in the spacing and parallelism. An adhesive agent is injected in this state into the holes 3 to fix the fibers. The covering part 1b is similarly fixed. The jig is removed after fixing and the projected fibers are cut together with the block 2. The end face thereof is polished. The insertion of the fibers into the guide holes is easy and there is no possibility of failure. The fibers are thus arrayed easily with high accuracy by using the jig.
