Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the moving amt. of optical fibers with simple construction and high accuracy by using a means for heating, splicing and stretching the fibers to each other, means for applying tension thereto and means for calculating the reference point of the fibers from the moving amt. of a moving base and controlling the position of a heating means. CONSTITUTION:The optical fibers 1A, 2A which are stretched after heating and splicing by the heating means 5 are supported by a stationary base 3 and a moving base 4. Tension is applied to the optical fibers by the tension applying means 12 and the value measured by a means 4B for measuring the moving amt. is inputted to a controller 10 which calculates the reference point of the optical fibers 1, 2. The position data on the reference point is applied to a pulse motor driving circuit 10F. The central value of the forward and backward moving range of a pulse motor 9 which moves the heating means 5 is detected and checked by an encoder 11. The moving amt. is, therefore, controlled with the simple construction and the high accuracy.
