Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a ferrite stainless steel quenched thin strip having good toughness as cast by specifying the contents of C, Si, Mn, Cr, N, etc., in the steel and specifying the ratio of columnar crystal of a quench solidifying structure. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. of the titled strip is formed with, by weight, <=0.03% C, <=5% Si, <=2% Mn, <=0.03% N and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. >=0% solidified structure is furthermore regulated to the columnar crystal. One or two kinds of 0.3-5% Mo and 1-7% Al and <=1% total among Ti, Nb and Zr are incorporated into said compsn. at need. The regulation of the solidified structure is executed by the control of charging temp., adjustment of roll cooling means, etc. There is no fear of breaking by brittleness even when executing cold rolling to said quenched thin strip.
