Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit an easy adjustment of the distances between conveying portions and between guide plates according to the sizes of an article and the packages by sequentially adjusting the distances between a pair of said oppositely positioned conveying portions of a package carrying conveyor and between said article guide plates attached to their respective conveying portions. CONSTITUTION:There are provided an article receiving mechanism 109 wherein a package 400 fed to a packing portion 37 is raised by bringing the upper surface 501 of an article 500 into contact with the lower surface of the package 400 and a package carrying conveyor 3 located above an article carrying conveyor 110 for carrying the article 500 onto said article receiving mechanism. This package carrying conveyor 3 is provided with a pair of oppositely positioned conveying portions 8 for carrying the package package 400 along a longitudinal conveying direction b of the article carrying conveyor 110 with an adjustable lateral distance S8 therebetween. These conveying portions 8 are provided with a pair of oppositely positioned article guide plates 40 extending longitudinally above the article carrying conveyor 110, each of said guide plates attached to a respective one of said conveying portions. With this construction, the lateral distance S8 between the oppositely positioned conveying portions 8 of the package carrying conveyor 3 and the lateral distance S40 between the oppositely positioned article guide plates 40 can be adjusted simultaneously.
