Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily obtain a molded polymer article having fine pattern with arbitrary color, free from void and useful for electronic parts, etc., by mixing a mixed liquid of a methacrylic acid ester, etc., and a bulky molded article of a methacrylic acid ester polymer in colored state and polymerizing the mixture. CONSTITUTION:A liquid mixture of a methacrylic acid ester (e.g. methyl methacrylate or propyl methacrylate), a powdery polymethacrylic acid ester and a polymerization initiator (e.g. benzoyl peroxide) is mixed with a bulky molded article of a methacrylic acid ester polymer wherein at least one of both components is in colored state. The mixture is polymerized in an autoclave usually at 30-70 deg.C and 5-10atm. pressure for 2-5hr introducing compressed gas such as compressed air into the autoclave. Preferably, the methacrylic acid ester is mixed with the polymethacrylic acid ester powder at a weight ratio of 7:3-3:7 and the polymerization initiator is added in an amount of 0.1-1wt.%.
