Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable smooth setting of a recording medium, by providing a guide member for guiding the leading end of the recording medium to be set from an upstream-side feeding member to a downstream-side feeding member, and a holding member which holds the guide member and is capable of displacing the guide member to an opposed position and a retracted position spaced apart from the opposed position. CONSTITUTION:At the time of setting a recording paper PP, a guide member 350 is opposed to a platen 401, and the paper PP is fed in a direction (f) in this condition. The leading end of the paper PP is clamped between a main roller 331A and an energizing roller 331B of lower feeding rollers 331, is then guided with a feeding passage restricted on the platen 401 by a guide member 350, and is clamped between a main roller 341A and an energizing roller 341B of upper feeding rollers 341. When abnormal feeding occurs, it can be detected by a paper passage sensor 299. With the paper PP set in position, a guide- driving motor 382 is driven to set the guide member 350 into a retracted position through a worm gear 386, resulting in a condition in which recording can be performed by moving a recording head 101 in a scanning manner in a direction S.
