CONSTITUTION:A mold 1 composed of outside diameter 1-1 and core 1-2 is arranged in an outer frame 2 using a paraffin having about 55 deg.C melting point. Then a sol in which a definite amount of silica fine particle is dispersed is poured into an solution obtained by hydrolyzing tetraethoxyorthosilane with hydrochloric acid. Further more, as the above-mentioned sol, the sol adjusted to pH 4.5 by properly dropping an ammonia water is used. The above-mentioned sol is subjected to gelation and then gel product is charged into e.g. a drier maintained at 65 deg.C together with the mold 1 to melt the mold 1. Then the remaining gel is taken out and paraffin attached thereto is washed with a heated aqueous methanol solution and removed. The resultant gel product is dried and sintered to provide the glass bulb for light bulb.
