Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable efficient operation to be attained while promoting the reduction of harmful components in exhaust gas by charging an engine with oxygen rich air, which increases the concentration of oxygen higher than the concentration of the atmosphere, and one part of the exhaust gas from the engine. CONSTITUTION:Providing an oxygen rich air generating device 7 able to generate oxygen rich air with the concentration of oxygen 22vol.% or more preferable, here the generated oxygen rich air is supplied to an intake manifold 10 through an oxygen rich air path 8 interposing a flow regulating valve 9. While supplying one part of exhaust gas in an exhaust gas passage 2 to the intake manifold 10 through a circulative exhaust gas line 3 interposing the flow regulating valve 9, this circulative exhaust gas line 3 additionally provides an exhaust gas cooling heat exchanger 6. In the time of operation of an engine 1, immediately before a mixture of the oxygen rich air with the circulating exhaust gas is supplied to a carburetor, detecting the concentration of oxygen in the corresponding mixture, the engine is constituted so as to control each flow control valve 5, 9 being based on the oxygen concentration detecting information.
