Abstract

PURPOSE: To allow easy and quick joining by providing an annular expanding portion, forming a flange for receiving that portion and an accommodating recess for a seal ring at the end periphery of the joint body. CONSTITUTION: Flanges 3 are formed at the end peripheries of the end portions 2A and 2B of a pipe portion 1 of the joint body. An accommodating member 4 for a seal ring is provided in a location separated from the flange 3 by a predetermined space, with a seal ring 5 having annular corrugation 6 and a spring 7 mounted inside it. The flange 3 engages the side surface of the distal end of an annular expanding portion 11 of a pipe 10 to be joined by surface contact. The outer periphery 13 of the inserted portion 12 at the distal end of the pipe 10 to be joined is water tightly joined with the annular corrugation 6 of the seal ring 5. As a result, it is possible to make joints at low cost and simplify the joining operation. The joint can also be used effectively for joining pipes having different diameters.
