Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid such troubles where a card is hitched by an ink ribbon, etc., when the card is carried or the card is soiled by the ink, by securing such a constitution where a print means is separated from a platen member and at the same time the print means can be moved vertically to the platen member. CONSTITUTION:When a card 19 is put into a card slit 16, a card detector 3 detects the card 19. Then a plunger 15 is energized to pull up a printer frame 11 toward C to secure a carrying path of the card 19. Then the card 19 is carried toward F and passes between a magnetic head 5 and a pressure roll 4. Thus the data on the magnetic stripes are read by the head 5. The frame 11 is also pulled up toward C and kept there when the data are written onto the magnetic stripes or confirmed. The movement of the card 19 is stopped when a printed part of the card 19 reaches a point under a print head 14 after shift toward F. At the same time, the energization of the plunger 15 is cut off. Thus the frame 11 is pulled toward B and an angle stop 11-1 abuts on a platen 6 for execution of printing actions. The frame 11 is pulled up when the printing actions are through.
