Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the brake performing and traction performance on an ice snow road by forming a plurality of sipes which extend in the radial direction from the center part of a block which is formed from a main groove and branched grooves and are parallel to the tire revolution axis towards the edge part of the block. CONSTITUTION:Blocks 3a and 3b are formed from main grooves 1a and 1b and branched grooves 2a and 2b, and a crossing sipe 5 is formed in each block. The crossing sipe 5 is constituted of the inclined sipe 5a extending in the radial direction from the center part of the block and a lateral sipe 5b which is continuous to the inclined sipe 5a and parallel to the tire revolution axis towards the edge of the block. The crossing sipes are desirably formed over 50% of the whole block. The depth of the crossing sipe 5 is set to 50-100% of the depth of the main groove, and a recessed part 7 having the equal depth to that of the crossing sipe 5 is formed at the center part of the crossing sipe 5. With such constitution, the brake performance and traction performance on an ice snow road can be improved.
