CONSTITUTION:Tracking guides consisting of the single thin metallic films or thin alloy films 3 having the reflectivity higher than the reflectivity of the magneto-optical recording layers 4 are formed on the hard and transparent substrate 2 and further, the magneto-optical recording layers 4 having the axis of easy magnetization in the direction perpendicular to the film plane are formed directly on the surface of the substrate 2 in such a manner that the layers are alternately disposed on the same plane as the plane of the thin films 3 having the high reflectivity. A difference in the reflectivity between the single thin metallic films or thin alloy films 3 having the high reflectivity and the magneto-optical recording layers 4 is largely taken. The follow-up characteristic of tracking servo is thereby improved and the deterioration with age is decreased even after the film formation.
