Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a non-carbon pressure-sensitive copying paper superior in color-forming properties, resistance to stain, and suitability to high density coating material, by using an alkali thikening type latex as a binder. CONSTITUTION:In a non-carbon pressure-sensitive copying paper formed by being coated with microcapsules containing a color former, a buffer, and a binder, a styrene-butadiene copolymer latex (SB copolymer latex) of alkali thikening type is used as a binder. The SB copolymer latex in use preferably has a glass transition temperature Tg of -30-+10 deg.C. With Tg lower than this range, a dynamic friction stain is deteriorated; with Tg higher than this range, a static pressure stain is increased. The SB copolymer latex is desirably added in the range of 3-40pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the microcapsules. An addition amount lower than this range makes the adhesion of the composition to a substrate insufficient and lowers resistance to stain; an addition amount higher than this range induces the deterioration of color-forming sensitivity and unsatisfactory setting when the copying paper is used as a document.
