Abstract

PURPOSE:To effect passive braking by means of the low number of passive dampers, by a method wherein the one of a pair of like-polar magnetic members the one of which has a circular (or square) cone and the other of which has a recessed surface positioned facing to the circular cone is excited by means of a control signal. CONSTITUTION:A passive damper is formed with a head 62 connected to a vibration absorbing bed 1 through a permanent magnet 61 and a pole 64 secured to an electromagnet 63 and forming a circular cone or a square cone, and the head 62 has a recessed surface positioned facing to the circular (or square) cone. A steady current flows through a driven winding 66 of the electromagnet 63 on the sides, positioned facing each other, of the head and the pole, and the sides are kept with a given distance therebetween. When the distance therebetween is fluctuated due to vibration, a current is generated at the winding 66, a brake force is generated by means of internal resistance, and a control current is applied from a circuit part to output a control signal. Thus, since an exciting force and a brake force in a reverse phase are exerted on the head 62, a damping force in the direction of displacement is generated in the shapes of the head 62 and the pole 64 together with a damping force, and vibration of a vibration absorbing bed 1 is substantially offset for absorption of vibration.
