Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an automatically operable chemical heat pump by providing a channel coupled between a reaction container and a condenser and an evaporator with a check valve so that refrigerant flows into the condenser when the pressure in the reaction container is high otherwise flows out from the evaporator thereby eliminating the need for switching the reaction gas through a on/off valve. CONSTITUTION: Reaction substance in a reaction container A1 is CaCl2 .2CH3 OH and the reaction substance in a reaction container B2 is CaCl2 . Decomposition reaction progresses when the reaction container A1 is heated with solar heat and when the pressure exceeds 250 mmHg, a check valve I13 opens to transports CH3 OH gas into a condenser 3 where the CH3 OH gas is condensed. A check valve 1114 is kept in closed state. The reaction container B2 is heat insulated to keep a temperature of 40 deg.C and when the pressure in the container drops below 10 mmHg, a check valve IV16 is opened by the pressure difference between the reaction container B2 and an evaporator 6 and the CH3 OH flows into the reaction container B2. Exothermic reaction takes place but the pressure is kept at 10 mmHg or below and the CH3 OH is evaporated at -15 deg.C in the evaporator 6 and used as heat output. A check valve III15 is kept in closed state. Reaction substance is CaCl2 in the reaction container A1 and CaCl2 .2CH3 OH in the reaction container B2.
