PURPOSE:To enable the content of printing data to be easily modified or added and make it possible to efficiently perform many-kind small-quantity printings, by forming printing data based on a stored label format and printing content data, outputting the printing data to a printer-controlling means, and printing the printing data. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 16 incorporates a hard disk 18, and floppy disk drives 20A, 20B are provided. The output of the microcomputer 16 is connected to a printer controller 24, provided as a printer-controlling means, through a cable 22. The output of the printer controller 24 is connected to a laser beam printer 28 through a cable 26. Printing data is sent from the microcomputer 16 to the printer controller 24 in terms of, for example, JIS codes. The printing data is converted into a vector font by an edge processor 44 provided in the printer controller 24, and the converted data is stored in a font memory 46. The data converted into the vector font is converted into scanning data, which is stored in an image memory 48, and is outputted to a printer 28.
