Abstract
PURPOSE: To keep the sensitivity of a dust sensor high by causing a dust sensor and a wiping element to rub against each other each time a vacuum cleaner is started or stopped. CONSTITUTION: When a vacuum cleaner is operated, a air-flow bearing plate 23 is exerted with air pressure produced by the flow A of suction air inside the pipe 13 of a hose 12, and a wiping element 21 that is flush with the air-flow bearing plate 23 moves to the suction side while resisting the activating force of a spring 22. The surface of a dust sensor 17 is cleaned, and a light emitting element 18 is optically short-circuited with a photocell 19 to detect dust passing inside the pipe 13. When the operation of the cleaner is stopped, the wiping element 21 is pushed back toward the end of the pipe by the force of the spring 22 and cleans the surface of the dust sensor 17. Thus the surface of the sensor 17 is always kept clean to keep its sensitivity high.
