Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily select a proper electric current waveform by making an electric current value of reversed polarity and the ratio of the weld time of the reversed polarity to the weld time of a cycle of AC frequency a constant value and making variable continuously the AC frequency and an electric current value of straight polari ty. CONSTITUTION:The current flowing between a TIG torch 10 and base metal 12 allows the current value IR of the reversed polarity to flow in the direction of the base metal 12 from the TIG torch 10 via a reversed polarity current switching element 9 from reversed polarity DC constant current power source ER by a weld timer tR period during the reversed polarity weld time. Said current allows the straight polarity current IS to flow via the base metal 12 and the TIG torch 10 from a straight polarity DC constant current power source ES by the straight polarity weld time tS of a straight polarity switching element 11 during the straight polarity weld time. The current value IR of the reversed polarity and the ratio of the weld time tR of the reversed polarity to the weld times (tS+tR) of a period of the AC frequency are made to the constant value and the AC frequency and the current value of the straight polarity are made variable continuously. By this method, the cleaning width is made to more than the weld bead width and the stable AC TIG welding with little electrode consump tion is performed.
