Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a woody decorative veneer having external appearance in conformity with modern living space without impairing the virtue of wood by a method wherein a flitch is formed by applying adhesive to wood chips with specified dimensions so as to turn into a block by compression molding and then slicing the flitch. CONSTITUTION:Each wood chip 1 has a thickness of 0.05-0.80mm, an area of 6-400mm<2> and a fiber ratio of 0.5-7.0. The wood chips 1 are treated with chemicals, dried, coated with adhesive and compression-molded with a pressing device 2 so as to be turned into a flitch 3. As the chemical treatment, dyeing treatment, mothproofing treatment, rotproofing treatment, flame-retarding treatment and the like are employed. As the adhesive, urethane adhesive, urethane emulsion adhesive, soft polyester resin with elongation of 40% or more, vinyl acetate-based resin and the like are employed. The compression molding of the wood chips 1 coated with the adhesive is done with the pressing device 2 and the pressure to be applied is set to be 2-25kg/cm<2>, which is a pressure high enough for crushing the wood chips 1 along the surface of the press.
