Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the decrease in the dispersion density of spherical spacers and the secondary flocculation thereof and to prevent the change in performance by adhering and fixing the spacers onto a substrate by using a resin layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermosetting resin 4 is coated by using a spinner, etc., on the glass substrate 1 formed thereon with transparent electrodes 2 to form the resin layer to about 1.0mum thereon. A liquid dispersion mixed with 5wt.% spherical spacers 3 of a required grain size is sprayed and dispersed on this substrate 1 and is temporally cured at about 100 deg.C. A counter substrate is further stuck to the substrate 1 and the substrates are vacuum-packed to complete the curing. As a result, the decrease in the dispersion density by splashing of the spacers after the dispersion thereof or the nonuniformity in a panel gap by the secondary flocculation between the spacers is obviated and the change in performance is prevented.
